100% of All Proceeds Go Directly to Reef Restoration

Every purchase supports SOAR’s mission to restore coral reef ecosystems through invertebrate grazer cultivation, research, and hands-on conservation.

Sustainability at SOAR

At SOAR, sustainability is embedded in every part of our work, from hands-on reef restoration and community outreach to the way we manage operations and education. Our goal is to promote long-term resilience for coral reef ecosystems while minimizing our environmental footprint wherever possible.

This mindset also guides the merchandise we offer. While not every product is perfect, we make deliberate choices that align with our mission and values, always seeking new methods and striving to improve the sustainability of our practices. Our hope is that each step we take contributes to healthier oceans and stronger reef communities.

Why Sunscreen Matters

Sunscreen is essential for protecting our skin, but not all sunscreens are safer for the ocean. Many common sunscreen ingredients have been shown to harm corals, fish, and other marine life.

We’re proud to partner with Stream2Sea, one of the only reef-safer sunscreen brands backed by peer-reviewed scientific studies and real-world safety testing. Their formulas are biodegradable, mineral-based, and rigorously tested to be as safe as possible for freshwater and marine ecosystems.

What to Look For:
Mineral Sunscreens

  • Choose sunscreens that use non-nano zinc oxide or non-nano titanium dioxide as the active ingredient.

  • These minerals sit on top of your skin and reflect UV rays, rather than absorbing into your body or the environment.

  • Unlike chemical filters, mineral sunscreens do not disrupt marine ecosystems or contribute to coral bleaching.
