Behind the Scenes of Fieldwork in the Bahamas

What does reef restoration look like in action?
Our work in the Bahamas involves a combination of planning, teamwork, and hands-on fieldwork, both above and below the surface. From organizing and transporting equipment to constructing nursery structures and deploying settlement collectors, each step requires careful coordination.
In the water, our team spends long hours diving to build rock pile formations, monitoring urchin populations, and assessing site conditions. These efforts are essential to creating suitable habitats and tracking the progress of our restoration work.
Fieldwork also comes with its challenges, including changing weather conditions, complex logistics, and the physical demands of working in a marine environment. But it’s also incredibly rewarding.
Every healthy urchin observed and every successful deployment brings us one step closer to supporting reef recovery.
Stay tuned as we continue our work and share more from the field!
